Don’t fall victim to big puppy dog eyes when seeking that special dog for you or your family while shopping online. As with the complaint we received about Dominion Pupz, he found out they were glad to take his money but not ship his puppy. This individual ordered a puppy online with Dominion Pupz which required a $500 down payment be wired to them before shipping puppy.
Dominion Pupz claims to be located here in Cincinnati, however, BBB was not able to prove that due to failed email and a phone that rings busy with each attempt. Their web site is registered out of Portugal, not Cincinnati.
This type of scam is like many online scams which require the customer to wire money as a down payment but never receives the merchandise. Click here for a full report on this company.
BBB advises buyers to use caution when ordering a puppy that is advertised on the internet. Be wary of discounted prices being offered online. Before conducting business with a breeder, confirm their name, phone number and physical location. You may do so using an online directory such as 411.com or whitepages.com or check the breeder out at bbb.org. As a buyer, be skeptical if someone promises to deliver a puppy within 24 hours. Before purchasing ask for references and contact them. You should also talk to the seller's veterinarian. Finally, BBB advises you to be suspicious of a seller who only accepts wire payments or money orders. Purchases online should be made via a method that offers fraud protection such as a credit card. If you feel you have been a victim of a puppy scam, contact your state Attorney General, U.S. Secret Service Office for Internet fraud and your BBB.

Since this alert was first issued, BBB has identified two additional companies operating this scam. Mr. Everett Jerry Smith Jr., has been linked to Dominion Pupz, Spicy Bulls, and Elite Quality English Bulldog Kennel.
